On Friday night, March 10, a five-month-old baby and their mother were tragically killed due to inhaling generator fumes in their home in Owo, Ondo State. According to Vanguard, the family had purchased the generator only a few days prior on Monday, March 6. The deceased were identified as Tawa and her husband, who were both employees at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo.
Tawa had called her elder sister the night before to inform her that her baby was ill and that she would be bringing the child to her. When the sister arrived at Tawa’s place of work, she was told that neither Tawa nor her husband were present. The deceased’s elder sister and their co-workers went to their house and found the door locked. After breaking in, they discovered the couple lying unconscious and the baby dead. They were rushed to the FMC where Tawa later passed away and her husband is currently in critical condition. The state police command has yet to comment on this heartbreaking event.
