Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has stated his intention to expose Governor Godwin Obaseki’s misconduct if his supporters continue to harass him.
Shaibu, who recently switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made these remarks during a media interaction following a Sunday Mass at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.
Having endured Obaseki’s behavior for over 15 months, Shaibu asserted that the governor had crossed a line with recent actions, mistaking his silence for acquiescence.
He declared his readiness to unveil various wrongdoings committed by the governor, emphasizing the importance of transparency in governance and cautioning religious leaders against granting unwarranted divine titles, such as “God’s Servant Governor,” to politicians.
Shaibu criticized Obaseki’s style of leadership, accusing him of engaging in behaviors contrary to the essence of servant leadership.
These alleged misdeeds include clashing with the church, cancelling Certificates of Occupancy belonging to underprivileged individuals, demolishing homes of opposition members, and other behaviors that Shaibu labeled as unjust.
Furthermore, Shaibu urged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to maintain impartiality and resist political manipulation while opposing any form of injustice.
He called on the Christian community to serve as a guiding light for all citizens, ensuring that their faith remains untarnished by partisan politics.
