Emeka Rollas
The Police Force Zone 9 in Umuahia has refuted claims regarding the arrest of Emeka Rollas, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
In a statement released on Friday by Public Relations Officer SP Iheanetu Bruno Chukwudera, the police clarified that the reports of an arrest were inaccurate.
Chukwudera noted that a heated dispute erupted during an AGN meeting, which led the police to step in to maintain order and prevent chaos.
He mentioned that prior to the meeting, Rollas had filed a complaint against some members, raising issues which the police are currently looking into.
According to the police, both Rollas and the concerned members spoke with Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Suleiman Yusuf and subsequently left without any arrests or threats.
The spokesperson reiterated that nobody, including the AGN President, was taken into custody.
The official statement emphasized: “We have been made aware of false reports online claiming the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria was arrested by our officers.
“These assertions are false. On January 9, 2025, the AGN President conducted a meeting in Umuahia where an altercation occurred, prompting police to intervene for public safety.”
“Given the meeting’s close proximity to the Zone 9 Headquarters, the involved parties were taken to the command for conflict resolution.”
