President Bola Tinubu is preparing to fly from Nigeria to Brazil on Sunday to take part in the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit.
Onanuga revealed that this visit is at the invitation of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the Brazilian president.
This trip follows closely on the heels of Tinubu’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia.
Onanuga elaborated, “President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday to participate in the G20 Leaders’ Summit.”
“The Nigerian president’s attendance is at the request of Brazilian President Lula da Silva.”
“The summit will take place from Monday, November 18 to Tuesday, November 19, and will feature leaders from the world’s leading 20 economies, along with representatives from the European Union, African Union, and various financial institutions.”
“This year’s conference, themed ‘Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,’ will focus on tackling hunger and poverty, reforming global governance institutions, and promoting sustainable development and energy transitions.”
“Additionally, President Tinubu is anticipated to engage in bilateral discussions alongside the summit to further Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms.”
Accompanying him are notable officials including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, as well as Ministers of Livestock Development, Art, Tourism, Culture and Creativity, and Agriculture and Food Security, along with the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
