President Tinubu Reaches South Africa for Collaborative Meetings
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has landed in South Africa to co-chair the 11th Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission session, working alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa.
This information was announced by Frederick Nwabufo, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, in a brief statement via X on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, President Tinubu was welcomed at the airport by Roland Lamola, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The official statement mentioned, “President Tinubu is in Cape Town, South Africa, participating in the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission, welcomed by Minister Roland Lamola and Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
The visit follows his recent trip to France.
According to a statement released on Sunday, December 1, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the Nigerian President departed France on Monday for Cape Town.
The Bi-National Commission meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, will be preceded by a ministerial gathering on December 2, 2024, at the South African Parliament in Cape Town.
During this visit, President Tinubu and President Ramaphosa will engage in discussions covering political consultations, migration, finance, security practices, production sectors, mining, energy resources, as well as trade and investment opportunities between Nigeria and South Africa.
