Senator Remi Tinubu, the First Lady, has called on Nigerians to make mental health a priority, especially in the work environment.

In her message for World Mental Health Day, she emphasized the importance of seeking medical assistance and counseling at the earliest opportunity.

This year’s focus is: “Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace.”

She pointed out that repressed emotions can contribute to mental health challenges.

She stated: “As we mark Mental Health Awareness Day today,

“The theme for this year, ‘Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace,’ is particularly relevant now, as many people face job dissatisfaction that can impact their mental well-being.

“Bottling up emotions can lead to mental health struggles.

“If stigma were not a concern, more individuals would openly discuss their issues, which would facilitate early diagnosis and better recovery.

“With compassion and support, we can significantly decrease mental health problems both at work and beyond.

“Let’s all pledge to raise mental health awareness and encourage seeking help early.

“Be proactive in caring for each other to foster a healthier society.”
