The Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly has announced a block on Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s ability to make expenditures until he presents the budget before the House.
Following the expiry of the 7-day ultimatum given by the faction to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to submit the 2024 budget, the House made the decision.
Major Jack informed the House about the lapse of the seven-day ultimatum for the governor to present the 2024 budget.
The assembly led by Martin Amaewhule has henceforth decided that Governor Fubara cannot authorize expenditure from the state’s revenue fund, and ministries are not permitted to spend public funds until the 2024 budget is submitted.
It’s worth noting that in December 2023, the governor signed an 800 billion naira budget into law after presenting it to lawmakers headed by the former factional speaker, Mr Edison Ehie.
