On the morning of January 16, during the 2025 budget presentation for the Nigeria Police Force, tension escalated in the Senate.
The meeting became chaotic when two legislators voiced concerns that the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) presentation did not match the documents provided to them.
Despite the committee chairman’s efforts to allow the IGP to continue amidst the dispute, his request faced pushback, resulting in a loud exchange.
This turmoil prompted Senator Onyekachi Nwoebonyi from Ebonyi North, a prominent member of the 10th Senate, to leave the Joint Committee meeting in frustration.
His sudden exit drew jeers from several lawmakers in the House of Representatives who reacted to his departure.
