Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has called on Nigerians to participate in peaceful protests against President Bola Tinubu’s government to address their grievances effectively.
Gumi emphasized the importance of peaceful protests, citing historical examples where mass protests have influenced positive changes in governance.
Referring to former President Buhari’s past protests against the Jonathan administration, Gumi highlighted the significance of citizen-led demonstrations in holding politicians accountable.
Gumi stressed that peaceful protests are essential in a country as diverse as Nigeria, with various ethnicities, religions, cultures, tribes, and sects, to convey collective dissatisfaction to the government.
In light of activist Omoyele Sowore’s call for a revolutionary protest in August to address the nation’s current hardships, Gumi’s appeal for peaceful protests aligns with growing concerns over the state of affairs in the country.
