On Thursday, officials from Edo State revealed that a brothel was found operating within a primary school located in the Esan West Local Government Area.
The government has since taken action by closing down the brothel.
This announcement was made during a press conference in Benin City by Eugene Okolosie, the State Coordinator for the Protection of Government Property (PGP).
Okolosie also mentioned that authorities have reclaimed over 2,000 plots of land that had been invaded by land grabbers within the state.
He indicated that more than 150,000 residences in the region had been established on government-owned lands.
“The local community alerted us that land grabbers had falsified their signatures, prompting us to act swiftly and recover around 90 percent of the lands, including those associated with schools.
“For instance, at Ujuele Primary School, a brothel was erected on the premises, and we have since sealed it off. Discussions are ongoing with the governor regarding repurposing some of these properties,” Okolosie stated.
