Fraudsters Compromise NDDC Chairman’s Social Media Accounts
The chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chiedu Ebie, has fallen victim to social media hacks by scammers.
The NDDC revealed that the chairman’s Facebook and Instagram accounts have been impersonated by a group of fraudsters, who are using these platforms to deceive and exploit unsuspecting individuals.
In a statement released in Port Harcourt on Monday, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, shared details about the incident.
The statement highlighted that the scammers are falsely using the NDDC’s name and logo to distribute questionable business proposals, labeling these actions as criminal.
It stated, “We have been informed that the social media accounts of Mr. Chiedu Ebie, NDDC’s Governing Board Chairman, have been hijacked by fraudulent individuals.”
“The scammers cloned his Facebook account and hacked into his Instagram account to perpetrate fraud.”
“They are misusing the NDDC’s name and logo to circulate scams that will defraud people, thus tarnishing the image of the NDDC and its leadership. Investigations are underway by security agencies to bring these criminals to justice.”
Additionally, the statement urged the public to stay cautious and avoid engaging with these fraudulent schemes.
“Efforts are being made to regain access to the hacked accounts. Meanwhile, people are advised to refrain from conducting transactions with these anonymous scammers, as any interactions are at their own risk.”
“The NDDC will not be responsible for any losses incurred through such dealings, and we encourage everyone to report any suspicious online activities to the relevant authorities.”
“Those seeking genuine business engagements with the NDDC should verify information through our official website and approved social media channels,” the statement concluded.
