Solidarity March for Former Governor Wike Amid Rivers Crisis

Political Leaders Rally In Solidarity March For Wike Amid Rivers (via Primetweets)
Political leaders from various wards in Obio/Akpor are currently organizing a solidarity march to show their support for Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State. The march commenced at the Rumueme Civic Center in Port Harcourt with notable figures like Ogundu Chinda, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and George Ariolu, a former Council Chairman, leading the way.

The demonstrators are advocating for a continued police presence in the councils and are denouncing any form of intimidation. The march is causing significant traffic congestion along Ikwerre Road.

This display of solidarity for Wike occurs amidst the political unrest in Rivers State, which was exemplified by the IPO community women’s protest at the Port Harcourt airport, resulting in stranded passengers.

Additionally, former Council Chairmen from 21 out of the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Rivers State disregarded police orders on Monday and staged protests in their respective council areas. These pro-Wike ex-LGA heads carried placards urging the police to maintain control of the council headquarters despite the police command’s advisory against demonstrations.
