President Bola Tinubu has encouraged FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to disregard distractions and remain dedicated to his responsibilities.
This statement was made on Tuesday, June 10, during the formal unveiling of the refurbished International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, which has been renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.
Commending Wike for exemplifying the genuine spirit of Nigeria, the President emphasized the importance of staying concentrated and ignoring the remarks from “busybodies.”
“You embody the values of our people—character, resolve, and resilience. It pleases me that you showcase these traits. Pay no attention to the naysayers; regardless of their comments, continue your outstanding work.”
“You are a visionary leader with the insight and dedication required for success. Thank you sincerely.”
The president reminisced about his dissatisfaction from a previous visit to the ICC for the ECOWAS Parliament, which highlighted the need for the upgrades to the venue.
“During my visit for the ECOWAS Parliament conference, I was struck by how unkempt, disorganized, and unsuitable the venue was.”
“After a brief conversation with the Senate President, I expressed my concerns to Wike, asking, ‘Is this what we’ve become? Is this center a true reflection of us?’”
“He reassured me that improvements would be made. He promised that when I returned, I wouldn’t find the center in a dilapidated state, and today, I am very pleased.”
