On February 10, the Supreme Court imposed a ₦2 million penalty on Governor Siminalayi Fubara concerning a case that deemed the Rivers State 2024 budget unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court upheld its previous ruling, rejecting Fubara’s appeal regarding the state budget.
A panel of five justices, led by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, ruled against the Governor’s appeal that contested the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly. This occurred after he had submitted the budget to a different faction.
The dismissal was based on the fact that Fubara’s attorney, Yusuf Ali, had withdrawn the appeal.
