Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Attack Edo Community, Prompting Residents to Flee

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, suspected herdsmen attacked the Sobe community in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State. One person was injured and a child was kidnapped during the incident. This was two weeks after the same community experienced a deadly attack that left three people, including a pastor, dead. Many of the community’s residents have since fled their homes in fear. According to reports, this is the sixth attack since January of this year.

The victim, a barber named Monday, was attacked with a machete and left for dead. Fortunately, some brave villagers came to his aid and took him to a hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for his wounds. The herders also stole some of Monday’s valuables and kidnapped one of his children.
