Isaac Fayose, the brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has voiced his concerns regarding the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) detaining crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky.
Bobrisky was taken into custody at the Seme border while attempting to travel from Nigeria to the Benin Republic.
This incident coincides with an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives concerning a leaked audio involving Bobrisky that implicated officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS).
The leaked conversation suggests that Bobrisky purportedly bribed EFCC agents to dismiss his money laundering allegations with ₦15 million.
Due to these allegations, an investigative session was called by the House of Representatives, but Bobrisky did not attend.
In response, Fayose expressed that Bobrisky’s situation is unjust. He emphasized that Bobrisky has already completed his prison sentence for financial misconduct and deserves the chance to move on with his life.
On social media, he questioned, “Why is the Nigerian Immigration Service detaining Bobrisky? What is his offense? Isn’t he allowed to travel?”
“He served his time, unlike others who faced no consequences. He finished his six-month term; so what’s the issue? Is being a crossdresser a crime? Are there not others like him in Nigeria?”
“Why is the NIS after him? We have more pressing matters in the country than bothering Bobrisky. It’s time to let him live freely; this treatment is unjust.”
