Tragic Murder of Three Siblings in Anambra
A heartbreaking incident occurred in Nnewichi, Nnewi, Anambra State, where three young siblings—a 9-year-old girl, a 7-year-old girl, and a 5-year-old boy—were discovered dead, their bodies concealed in a deep freezer. The identities of the assailants are currently unknown.
The children, Ejezie Chikaima Daviana, Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica, and Ejezie Chimdilim David, were at home alone on the day of the tragedy. Their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, had left to take an exam. Upon her return, she found the front door ajar—a surprising sight since her children typically secured it when they played outside.
Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, the children’s father, lives in Irrua, Edo State. He received a call on Saturday, February 1, from his wife, who informed him of the shocking event. He hurried to Nnewichi, where he learned that after a fruitless search for the children, including inquiries at their church, the deep freezer was opened, revealing their lifeless bodies.
Udochukwu revealed, “When my wife returned and couldn’t find the children, she searched everywhere for them, including the church. In desperation, they opened the deep freezer, and tragically, that’s where they found our kids.” He described the scene, saying that food was still on the table as the assailants had interrupted the children while they were eating.
The bodies have been sent to a morgue, and the police at CPS Nnewi have been notified and are conducting an investigation. Udochukwu expressed his devastation, stating, “My three children were killed at the same time by unknown attackers. It’s unbearable.”
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the occurrence and mentioned that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has mandated a thorough investigation. “The bodies are now in custody, and we have moved the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a detailed inquiry. Updates will be communicated as they arise,” Ikenga stated.
In light of this tragedy, the community of Nnewichi is calling for thorough justice for the slain children.
This shocking event unfolds just a month after another incident in Anambra, where three siblings were discovered dead in their father’s car in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area. Eyewitness reports indicated that the boys, aged between two and six, were found with their mouths bound and the car marked with blood, suggesting a horrifying and deliberate act of violence.
Their father, in his early thirties, usually secured the children inside the compound while he worked, returning briefly to provide meals before heading out again. It is believed that someone managed to enter the property by climbing over the wall while the parents were away.
