Tragic Fate: Nigerian Mother and Son Murdered Following N5M Ransom Payment

Recent reports indicate that the bodies of two victims were discovered near the boundary of Ohaji Egbema and Rivers State, an area well-known for kidnappings often linked to suspected herdsmen.

A 42-year-old widow, Ruth Ifeoma Agunanne, and her 20-year-old son, Chimezie Charles Akamere, tragically lost their lives after being abducted and murdered by kidnappers. Their funeral was held in Imo State, drawing many mourners.



Reports reveal that after demanding a ransom of N5 million, the kidnappers killed both individuals.



Farmers in the vicinity found their bodies in a field and reported the discovery to local vigilantes.



The vigilante group then contacted the families, urging them to identify the remains, which were already beginning to decompose.



Ruth was buried on January 10, 2024, at her father’s compound in Ugbele-Akah, located in the Nkaba Local Government Area of Imo State.



Chimezie was laid to rest at his father’s home in Ibeama Ekwe.
