The unfortunate incident on the Emure-Eporo Road in Ekiti State resulted in the tragic death of a young woman after kidnappers demanded and received a ransom of N10 million for her release. This incident occurred when Shile Ogunmolasuyi, a recent high school graduate, and her mother, Mrs. Yemi Ogunmolasuyi, were abducted on August 31.

After the ransom was paid, the kidnappers released Yemi and another woman named Caroline Taiwo, whose husband, Oluwole Taiwo, lost his life during the abduction. Family members disclosed that the victims were set free following the payment of the ransom.

According to accounts from a community leader in Emure, Shile was tragically killed after enduring multiple assaults, which left her unable to walk during their captivity.

The victims were taken near Oyimo River around 5:30 PM on Saturday before the incident took a deadly turn as the kidnappers fatally shot Taiwo Oluwole, who was driving the victims to Akure after an event in Emure.

Initially demanding N30 million, the kidnappers eventually settled for N10 million, which was handed over at a location on the Owo-Ikare-Benin Road in Owo, Ondo State. The captives were eventually released at 1:30 AM in Owo.

Efforts are underway to locate and retrieve Shile’s body. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Emure Progressives Association, Niyi Awopetu, confirmed the release of the victims, noting the tragic loss of one of the captives.
