A heart-wrenching incident unfolded as 24-year-old Manpreet Kaur, an aspiring chef from Melbourne, tragically passed away on a flight bound from Melbourne to Delhi where she was eagerly anticipating a long-awaited reunion with her family.
Despite feeling unwell prior to reaching the airport, Manpreet decided to proceed with her journey on June 20.
Minutes after struggling to fasten her seatbelt onboard, she collapsed and passed away instantly, as revealed by her friend Gurdip Grewal.
Emergency responders and airline staff promptly came to her aid as the aircraft remained stationed at the Melbourne gate.
“When she got on the plane, she was struggling to put her seatbelt on,” Grewal recounted to the Herald Sun. “Just before her flight started, she fell in front of her seat and died on the spot.”
Reports suggest that Ms. Kaur may have succumbed to tuberculosis, a contagious illness predominantly affecting the lungs, as indicated by the Herald Sun.
In addition to her studies in cookery while employed at Australia Post, Ms. Kaur had aspirations of becoming a chef.
Her roommate, Kuldeep, fondly remembered her as “kind and honest,” mentioning, “She loved to travel with her friends around Victoria.”
Manpreet Kaur was en route to India to reunite with her parents for the first time since relocating to Australia in March 2020.
