Ajibade Owefoso, a journalist with Trust TV, has sadly passed away while asleep.
He was found deceased in his Lagos residence over the weekend.
As reported by Daily Trust, neighbors discovered him on the morning of Saturday, September 7, after multiple attempts to reach him went unanswered, prompting them to break down his door.
Ajibade leaves behind his wife and three children, who live in Imo State.
Just recently, he had held a burial for his father-in-law in Imo State, with many organizations, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapter, in attendance to show their support.
The Chief Operating Officer of Trust TV, Ibrahim Shehu Adamu, expressed his sorrow, calling Ajibade a vibrant journalist whose commitment and enthusiasm enriched every news piece he worked on.
“His unexpected departure is a significant loss for Trust TV, and we will truly miss his lively spirit. Ajibade’s journalistic talent and compelling reporting made him an essential part of our team,” stated Adamu.
“His unique style brought narratives to life, and his absence creates an irreplaceable gap. We grieve for his premature loss.”
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma shared his condolences, describing Ajibade as a devoted and principled journalist who upheld the standards of the media profession.
The governor offered heartfelt sympathies to Ajibade’s young family and elderly mother during this difficult period.
