Former President Donald Trump announced that he is revoking Joe Biden’s access to classified information, including his daily intelligence briefings. This decision was made public on February 7, shortly after Trump arrived at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
In a post on his social media, Trump stated, “There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.” He referenced Biden’s actions in 2021, which limited Trump’s access to sensitive details.
Trump cited a special counsel’s report from last year that criticized Biden’s handling of classified documents, claiming that it highlighted Biden’s “poor memory” and untrustworthiness regarding sensitive information.
He concluded his message with, “I will always protect our National Security—JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Previously, Trump has revoked security clearances from numerous former intelligence officials who commented on the Hunter Biden laptop situation and had stripped security details from critics that included his former secretary of state and health experts.
Biden has not yet responded to this recent decision. Notably, he had halted Trump’s intelligence briefings after the events leading to the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, citing concerns over Trump’s behavior.
In a CBS News interview, Biden expressed doubts about the necessity of Trump receiving intelligence briefings, questioning their value given Trump’s potential to disclose sensitive information.
Additionally, federal agents conducted a search of Trump’s residence in Florida in 2022, seizing classified materials, which led to felony charges against him for mishandling these records. Trump has denied any wrongdoing, and a judge recently dismissed the case on technical grounds.
