During a recent incident in the Amuloko area of Ibadan, two individuals, identified as Mustapha Bello and Damilare Oladele, were apprehended for possessing a human head that was dug up from a grave. They admitted to receiving N5,000 for each human head they acquired.
The suspects were captured by the Amotekun Corps following an encounter with a night guard who spotted them carrying a bag in the early hours of the day. Bello was apprehended after a scuffle with the security guard while Oladele managed to escape temporarily but was later caught by a vigilant crowd.
Following their arrests, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the gruesome act of exhuming corpses to retrieve human heads. Bello, a 32-year-old carpenter, attributed his entry into the illicit trade to an individual named Saheed, who introduced him to the operation of extracting human heads from graves.
Oladele, a 25-year-old barber, disclosed that he partnered with Bello in February and described their modus operandi of sneaking into graveyards in the dead of night to commit their nefarious deeds. Their scheme involved removing the heads, with Bello being responsible for selling them and sharing the proceeds with Oladele.
Oladele further admitted to indulging in substances like hemp and alcohol but claimed to have ceased marijuana consumption the previous year, opting for cigarettes instead.
