Comedian Acapella has criticized politician Omoyele Sowore for accusing leading Nigerian political figures, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, of corruption.
Sowore recently posted on X, stating, “I did not partake with Bola Ahmed Tinubu in dealing heroin and cocaine in Chicago. I did not collaborate with Atiku Abubakar in plundering the Nigerian Customs.”
He went on to target former Senate President David Mark, ex-Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Peter Obi, accusing them of supporting widespread corruption, violating human rights, and mishandling the economy.
Specifically addressing Obi, Sowore remarked, “I did not assist Peter Obi at the Tin Can Ports while he facilitated goods clearance for Sani Abacha, the very Abacha who was wrecking Nigeria piece by piece.”

This statement triggered immediate backlash, including from the comedian Acapella, who took to X to refute Sowore’s allegations against Obi.
“Firstly, Peter never served in the Abacha administration, you deceitful wannabe hero,” Acapella responded.
He explained that Obi merely assisted in relieving congestion at the Tin Can Port when business leaders sought solutions for severe port issues during the Abacha era.
“Obi did not receive any payment for the few months he contributed to decongesting the port and was not officially appointed during the Abacha government,” he clarified.
Acapella further recalled Sowore’s prior political connections, saying, “What you didn’t accomplish doesn’t concern me. The fact that you played a key role in bringing the disastrous Buhari to power in 2015 leaves you without the credibility to label anyone as corrupt.”
