A woman recently shared her grandfather’s letter from 1984 on the X platform, addressing her cousin’s estranged husband’s family following a separation caused by domestic violence.
This letter was shared during a discussion on why married women often feel trapped in abusive situations due to fears of being unsupported by their families if they leave.
Other users on X recounted stories of women who are raised with the belief that leaving a marriage is unacceptable regardless of the circumstances.
In contrast, the woman pointed out that her grandfather held a different view.
She then posted the letter he wrote to the family of the abusive husband after they separated, highlighting his strong stance against the husband’s actions.
Within the letter, her grandfather expressed that the abusive man was unworthy of his cousin as a spouse and that their pleas would not alter this fact.
He instructed the husband’s family to take custody of the couple’s two children until further arrangements could be made.
Additionally, he warned them to ensure their son never reach out to his cousin again or acknowledge her presence.
