Yahaya Bello’s Visit to EFCC Headquarters
Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, visited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently, as confirmed by his media team.
Initially, the media team mentioned that Bello attended the EFCC’s invitation following discussions with his legal advisors and political allies.
However, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s spokesperson, refuted claims that Bello was held by the agency, stating that he is still a wanted individual.
In a follow-up statement, Bello’s Director, Ohiare Michael, clarified that the ex-governor was at the EFCC office with his successor, Usman Ododo, but was not questioned by the agency, which allowed him to depart without any interrogation.
Michael stated, “We reported earlier that former Governor Yahaya Bello voluntarily visited the EFCC office to respond to their invitation.”
He emphasized the former governor’s commitment to legal processes and the protection of his rights, indicating that Bello’s intention was to ensure transparency.
Michael further noted, “Bello was permitted to leave without question. As of now, he has exited the EFCC premises, accompanied by Kogi State’s current Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.”
He reminded that the matter has been under the jurisdiction of a court, where Bello has consistently been represented by legal counsel during all hearings. The former governor aimed to clear any misconceptions regarding his integrity, asserting he has nothing to conceal or fear.
