Manager Pep Guardiola has announced that both Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku will not participate in Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Southampton on October 26.
Neither player was included in the squad that recently triumphed over Sparta Prague in a midweek UEFA Champions League match, securing a 5-0 victory and maintaining their unbeaten streak this season.
Doku, the Belgium winger, was taken off after 66 minutes in last week’s thrilling 2-1 win over Wolves, while Grealish made a brief appearance as a substitute.
Before the match against Sparta Prague, Guardiola provided an update regarding their situations, confirming that both players will be unavailable for the Southampton game and that their return dates remain uncertain.
“Jeremy [Doku] will be out for a bit longer than Jack [Grealish], as both sustained injuries during the last match. I can’t tell how long they’ll be sidelined. Hopefully, Jack might return in approximately a week or ten days, while Jeremy could take a bit longer,” he stated.
According to Guardiola’s estimates, both players will miss the matches against Southampton and Tottenham in the EFL Cup on October 30.
Grealish may aim for a return during the Premier League game against Bournemouth on November 2, while Doku might be fit for the Champions League fixture against Sporting Lisbon three days later.
City’s final match prior to the upcoming international break will be against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on November 9.
