Man City Star Dismisses Calls for Next Season Changes

Man City star rejects

Manchester City suffered a disappointing loss to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on May 17 at Wembley Stadium, marking the end of their quest for silverware this season.

Man City stumbled in the race for the Premier League title and faced early exits from both the EFL Cup and the Champions League. Currently, they find themselves in sixth place in the league, accumulating 65 points with two matches left to play.

Following their setback in the FA Cup, Pep Guardiola’s team is now determined to secure a top-five finish in the Premier League for a Champions League spot in the upcoming season.

The squad has also been plagued with injuries throughout the season, preventing key players from competing regularly. Given their current struggles, many observers expect significant changes at the Etihad Stadium ahead of the next campaign for improved performance.

After the FA Cup final defeat, Bernardo Silva reflected on the team’s lackluster performances this season, asserting that “something must change for next year.”

Bernardo Silva’s Comments on Necessary Changes at Man City

Silva mentioned (as reported by Manchester Evening News) that Man City requires some form of “change” to improve, but chose not to share his personal insights, leaving these decisions to the higher-ups.

“I have my thoughts, but I’m not sharing them. It’s up to the management to decide. What I can say is that something definitely needs to change when your performance drops to this level,” Silva expressed.

When prompted about whether the required changes relate to staff, players, mindset, or team morale, Silva commented it involves “a bit of everything,” while maintaining his discretion on his personal views.

“It’s a little bit of everything, although I’d prefer not to specify my thoughts. Nonetheless, this season has not been good for various reasons. It has been quite challenging for us—truly a disappointing season. Changes are necessary for next year,” he concluded.

Silva and his teammates are scheduled to return to Premier League action on May 20 against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium. It’s uncertain what changes, if any, Guardiola & Co. will implement during the summer.
