“Premier League Showdown: Manchester United vs. Leicester City Lineup Insights and Team News”

Man United vs. Leicester City lineups, confirmed starting 11, team news and injuries: Amad starts, still no Shaw image

Manchester United is set to play one last game before Ruben Amorim officially takes over as their new manager.

Ruud van Nistelrooy stepped in as the interim manager after Erik ten Hag was dismissed, with Amorim joining from Sporting CP soon.

United recently secured a 5-2 victory against Leicester in the Carabao Cup following Ten Hag’s departure, and Van Nistelrooy will be eager for a similar outcome as they host Leicester again at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

While the caretaker manager’s recent 2-0 win over PAOK in the UEFA Europa League might not have been the most inspiring performance, Amad Diallo made a strong case for inclusion in the starting lineup for the weekend.

The Sporting News offers insights and anticipates the lineup for both teams.

In contrast to their previous Premier League game, where they drew 1-1 with Chelsea, United’s lineup features Amad Diallo replacing Alejandro Garnacho.

Luke Shaw remains out of the squad despite returning to training, alongside Harry Maguire, who is also long-term injured.

Kobbie Mainoo continues to be sidelined with a hamstring issue, as does summer signing Leny Yoro, although winger Antony is included on the bench.

Mason Mount is back in contention for Van Nistelrooy’s midfield after playing as a substitute against PAOK, as is Christian Eriksen, but both players are listed among the substitutes.

Manchester United starting XI (4-2-3-1): Onana (GK) — Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui — Casemiro, Ugarte — Amad Diallo, Fernandes, Rashford — Hojlund

Injuries: Yoro, Shaw, Malacia, Mainoo, Maguire
Suspensions: None

Leicester’s coach, Steve Cooper, had previously fielded a less robust squad in the Carabao Cup against United, but is returning to a full-strength team for this crucial match.

Boubakary Soumare and Jordan Ayew will make their way into the starting lineup after showing promise in recent games, while Stephy Mavididi and Jamie Vardy will sit out. Additionally, James Justin steps in for Ricardo Pereira.

Cooper will not have backup goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk and striker Patson Daka available due to injuries, although Hamza Choudhury will be ready on the bench.

Leicester City XI (4-3-3): Hermansen (GK) — Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen — Soumare, Ndidi, Winks — Fatawu, Ayew, Buonanotte

Injuries: Stolarczyk, Daka
Suspensions: None
