An incident in Adamawa State involved a secondary school student named Idris Alex Emeka who has been accused of assaulting a mentally ill woman on three separate occasions.
Idris Alex Emeka, a student of Capital Government Day Secondary School, pleaded guilty at the Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola where he faced charges of assault.
After admitting guilt, the defendant was remanded by Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu for the alleged assaults.
The prosecution informed the court that the student was apprehended engaging in sexual activities with the mentally ill woman on June 26, 2024.
In the court’s First Information Report, it was claimed that the defendant had sexual encounters with the mentally unstable woman on three different occasions.
During the court proceedings, Inspector Galeon Nimrod, the prosecuting officer, detailed how Habu Jibrilla reported the matter after witnessing the defendant engaging in inappropriate behavior with the mentally ill woman.
Jibrilla, a resident of the State Low-Cost Housing Estate in Jimeta, witnessed the defendant in a compromising position with the woman at 6:40 am and decided to intervene by alerting the police.
