Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the Governorship candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, was arrested by Nigeria Police Force officers during a large protest against hunger and hardship in Akure.
The arrest occurred during an ongoing demonstration organized by the Take It Back Movement, of which Ajayi is a member. Another activist, Patrick Owolabi, was also reportedly arrested alongside the AAC candidate.
The Take It Back Movement, a human rights advocacy group, condemned the arrest of Ajayi and Owolabi and called for their immediate and unconditional release, labeling the crackdown on peaceful protesters as shameful.
In response to inquiries, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odunlami Ibukun, stated that he had not been briefed on the reported arrests.
