All eyes will be on the royals and their choice of outfits for King Charles III’s coronation as the historic day rapidly approaches. Grant Harrold, the former butler of the King, has revealed that the dress code for the May 6 ceremony will be a “massive change to royal protocol” compared to Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. Harrold said that traditionally, the aristocracy would wear coronation robes, but for this coronation, most royals will wear suits instead. He believes that the female royals will opt for dresses on the big day, and that the King and Queen will continue with the tradition of wearing ceremonial robes.
Harrold also said that guests at the ceremony, which will be around 2,000 people, will wear day dresses and accessorize with hats. Last week, Kate Middleton teased her coronation outfit, saying it will have a “hint of blue.” It is expected that Charles’s coronation ceremony will be a “scaled-down” affair compared to that of his late mother’s. All eyes are now on the royals and their choice of outfits for the historic day.
