Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s marriage has come to an end due to mounting financial woes. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum filed for divorce from the former NFL star this week, listing April 30 as the date of their separation.
Sources close to Zolciak revealed that she had been planning to end the marriage for a long time, and had kept her family and friends in the dark. The money has been a huge issue, as the couple owe the IRS more than $1 million in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties from 2013, 2017 and 2018. They also owe the state of Georgia $15,000 for unpaid taxes for 2018.
The source added that the couple are not on good terms right now, and that there is no cheating on either side. Zolciak and Biermann’s Georgia mansion entered foreclosure earlier this year before being put up for auction in February after they had defaulted on a $1.65 million loan they took out for the home in 2016. However, they were able to figure out a workaround to keep their plush pad.
The pair tied the knot in November 2011, and share four kids: Kroy Jagger, 11, Kash, 10, and 9-year-old twins Kane and Kaia. Zolciak is also mom to Brielle, 26, and Ariana Biermann, 21, from previous relationships. Kroy adopted Zolciak’s daughters when they were minors.
