Sabrina Strasser, star of the new unscripted series “Dancing Queens”, recently revealed on an upcoming episode of Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast that she let two “Dancing With the Stars” pros sleep in her basement pre-fame. Strasser worked with Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov, who choreographed a number for her and dance partner Stanislav “Stas” Kochergin.
“They slept in my house, they lived with me for two days because they were choreographing a number and they needed a place to stay,” Strasser said. She added that the married “DWTS” fixtures “deserve to be” on the show, as they are “wonderful” dancers.
The series follows six highly skilled amateurs as they invest time and money into their all-encompassing dedication to ballroom dance. The cast must juggle demanding responsibilities as mothers, wives, businesswomen and — possibly most complicated of all — friends. Strasser notes that the group is “friends, but not friends. Should I say frenemies?”
Incidentally, “DWTS” OGs — including Val Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff — make cameos on the inaugural season of “Dancing Queens.” Strasser expresses her admiration for them, noting that Mark Ballas and Derek Hough are among her favorite mirrorball champs.
With more eyes on the cutthroat Pro-Am ballroom competition circuit, Strasser is dreaming the exposure could lead to a future stint competing for the mirrorball trophy herself. She muses that it would be a great show if “Dancing Queens” took on “Dancing With the Stars” and the “Queens” had to dance with different pros. Strasser is manifesting that this will come true.
“Dancing Queens” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
