Matthew Perry, famously known for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on “Friends,” was reportedly captivated by ketamine to the extent that he contemplated launching a business to advocate for its therapeutic advantages.
Perry, who tragically passed away due to a ketamine overdose in October, had deliberated on establishing a company in Hollywood alongside a friend and an undisclosed associate.
A close friend of Perry unveiled that the actor intended to collaborate with an unidentified party to establish a ketamine therapy enterprise.
The friend shared, “He was telling me this ketamine is fantastic.”
It was noted that Perry had been receiving substantial quantities of the drug, which can be perilous for individuals with a history of addiction.
The friend explained, “Obviously this guy was giving him as much as he wanted, and with an addict, you can’t do that. It was terrible.”
Probe and Arrests Post Perry’s Demise
Subsequent to Perry’s demise, a comprehensive investigation resulted in multiple apprehensions. Among those taken into custody were Perry’s assistant Kenny Iwamasa and Jasveen Sangha, recognized as the “Ketamine Queen” in certain circles.
Furthermore, Drs. Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, along with Erik Fleming, an acquaintance of Perry, were also arrested. Authorities suspect these individuals of being involved in providing Perry with illegally obtained ketamine that led to his overdose.
The inquiry into Perry’s passing involved the LAPD, DEA, and US Postal Service, executing search warrants that led to the confiscation of computers, phones, and other electronic devices to track down those responsible for supplying Perry with the ketamine that caused his loss of consciousness and subsequent drowning in his hot tub.
Expected Charges
ABC News indicated that charges against those allegedly implicated in supplying ketamine to Perry are anticipated to be announced in a press briefing by the US attorney for Los Angeles and the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The case is poised to illuminate the darker facets of Hollywood’s drug scene, particularly concerning interactions between doctors and celebrities.
Perry’s memoir delves into his intricate relationship with ketamine, portraying the experience as “a giant exhale” that enabled him to disengage and confront his ego.
Nonetheless, he confessed that the therapy sometimes made him feel like he was dying during sessions. Despite his reservations, the Friends star persisted with ketamine therapy, culminating in his tragic overdose.
Concerns Regarding Perry’s State
Perry’s acquaintance voiced apprehensions about the involvement of medical professionals in the actor’s demise, drawing parallels to the tragic passing of Anna Nicole Smith. The friend emphasized the hazards of administering addictive substances to individuals combating addiction.
“Matthew’s death could have been avoided. You cannot give an addict meds, they can’t control their urges.”
