One of the well-known and influential figures today is Taylor Swift, the American singer currently on her ‘The Eras Tour’ making waves in Madrid and London, with Dublin next on the list.
Despite the tour’s success and fan adoration, Swift faced criticism for taking what is believed to be the shortest flight ever.
Reports indicate that she boarded a private flight at Los Angeles airport for a mere 40-second journey.
Covering 6 Kilometers
Swift embarked on this seemingly unnecessary flight covering a distance of 6 kilometers. In a video, she mentions how the same journey in Los Angeles traffic at 5 pm could take between 10 to 15 minutes, which could also be walked. However, due to her fame, walking is not a feasible option.
Many critics have pointed out the inconsistency between Swift’s public stance on climate change and her frequent use of private planes during her tour, raising concerns about her environmental impact.
Activists Target Swift’s Private Jet in London
In a recent incident, Swift’s private jet was vandalized with orange paint by climate change activists upon landing in London.
The activists from the Just Stop Oil platform stated that a single private jet flight could emit as much carbon dioxide as the annual carbon footprint of an average EU citizen.
