On January 8, a press conference was held in Da Nang to unveil DIFF 2025 along with a series of related events.
Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of Da Nang’s People’s Committee, noted that the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) attracts numerous tourists each summer.
DIFF 2025, set for May 31 to July 12, is themed “Da Nang – A New Era.” This event will be the longest and largest in its history, featuring six performance nights with ten competing teams including representatives from Canada, China, South Korea, Finland, Poland, Portugal, Australia, and Italy, plus two from Vietnam.
The festival will take place at a venue accommodating around 10,000 people, with over 50,000 fireworks planned to illuminate the night sky.
Organizers indicate that DIFF 2025 will encompass more than just fireworks; it will blend art, music, sports, and advanced technology.
Of particular note, augmented reality (AR) technology will be featured in the Sun Paradise Land (SPL) app, allowing visitors to enjoy the fireworks from anywhere via their smartphones.
DIFF: A benchmark for Da Nang’s achievements
During the launch, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi remarked on the impressive progress of Da Nang’s cultural and tourism sectors in 2024, which surpassed expectations and became pivotal for the city’s economy.
She credited this success partly to the impressive impact of DIFF 2024, asserting that since its launch in 2008, DIFF has established itself as a premier global festival, enhancing Da Nang’s reputation as a top venue for events and celebrations in Asia.
“DIFF has transformed into a prestigious platform for international fireworks teams and a ‘must-visit’ summer event for tourists from around the world,” she stated, emphasizing its significant role in boosting the city’s economic growth and elevating Da Nang’s profile.
Promotional opportunities and tourism development
Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, pointed out the strong infrastructure in the city, boasting over 1,300 hotels ready to welcome guests.
Even though DIFF coincides with peak summer tourism, local enterprises are well-prepared and confident in their capacity to cater to all visitor needs.
The association partnered with businesses to create attractive promotional packages throughout 2025, focusing on competitive prices and quality in order to draw and satisfy tourists.
Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, mentioned that promotional activities for DIFF started at the beginning of the year.
In the upcoming months, the department aims to promote DIFF through international roadshows and other marketing efforts.
“The fireworks festival presents a unique opportunity to showcase Da Nang, attracting summer visitors while maintaining interest year-round. With diverse teams like those from South Korea participating, we seek to widen our tourist base and establish Da Nang as the ‘fireworks capital’ of Vietnam,” Hanh concluded.
