Prime Minister Proposes Dismissal of Finance and Transport Ministers
Today, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh submitted a proposal to the National Assembly, seeking approval for the removal of the Finance and Transport Ministers for their term spanning from 2021 to 2026.
During the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly, which took place on November 27 under the leadership of Vice Chairperson Tran Thanh Man, various significant topics were discussed.
Among the key items on the agenda were:
- Revisions to the Employment Law and Special Consumption Tax Law.
- A proposal from the government to proceed with the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project.
The assembly entered a private session at 4:30 PM, where Prime Minister Chinh detailed his motion to relieve the current Ministers of Finance and Transport from their duties until the end of the term.
Following the Prime Minister’s address, assembly members reviewed the proposal within their respective groups.
At present, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc is also acting as the Finance Minister, while Nguyen Van Thang holds the position of Transport Minister.
On November 25, the Communist Party of Vietnam’s 13th Central Committee convened to discuss staffing, providing insights on candidates for crucial roles, such as the Ministers of Finance and Transport, along with other key officials within the National Assembly.
The National Assembly is set to continue its discussions on staffing matters on November 28.
Furthermore, apart from the personnel changes, the assembly will:
- Debate modifications to the Corporate Income Tax Law and the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations.
- Examine a proposed resolution aimed at reducing Value-Added Tax (VAT).
- Vote on a resolution for a pilot initiative to manage evidence and assets in criminal cases.
- Finalize the revised Anti-Human Trafficking Law.
