A significant healthcare management reorganization is underway in Hanoi as the Hanoi People’s Committee has unveiled a major rotation plan for district health department heads, affecting 14 out of 17 positions.
This bold decision, announced by Hanoi Chairman Tran Sy Thanh, signifies a fundamental change in the city’s health governance approach.
The rotation initiative covers 17 health department heads, with ten of them having served for 10 to 19 years and the remaining seven between 5 and 8 years.
The Health Department of Hanoi has proposed to retain the current leaders of the Cau Giay, Long Bien, and Hai Ba Trung districts due to their imminent retirements within the next 18 months.
Nguyen Thanh Khang, who has led the Me Linh district health department for 16 years, is poised for a new role within the Me Linh District Party Committee. Moreover, leaders from the health departments of Nam Tu Liem, Ha Dong, My Duc, Thanh Oai, Thanh Tri districts, and Son Tay town are set to shift to different districts following deliberations and agreements.
A rotational plan across districts is also being proposed for the seven district health department heads with tenures of 5 to 8 years to infuse fresh perspectives and rejuvenate leadership dynamics.
Further rearrangements for deputy heads of district health departments are scheduled for 2025, completing this extensive leadership reassignment process.
The changes have been approved by the Hanoi Party Standing Committee, instructing the Party Committee of the Hanoi People’s Committee to promptly carry out the rotations and provide feedback on the outcomes by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024.
This thorough restructuring aims to bring new energy into Hanoi’s health sector management at the district level, fostering a more agile and dynamic healthcare administration throughout the city.
