Authorities Apprehend Criminals Involved in Vehicle Theft, Retrieve Stolen Car in Lagos

Law enforcement officers arrested Kosoko Rafiu and Nunayo Sunayo on Thursday, August 8, after a high-speed pursuit that culminated in their capture at Abule Ado.

Vehicle Theft Syndicate

During a targeted operation in the Trade Fair area of Lagos, two members of a well-known vehicle theft group were apprehended by the Lagos state police command.

The pursuit of Kosoko Rafiu and Nunayo Sunayo ended in their arrest at Abule Ado after initial attempts to flee when spotted driving a red Toyota Corona in a suspicious manner around 12:00 pm on August 8.

Upon receiving a tip-off while monitoring a protest, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Trade Fair Division directed his team to conduct a stop-and-search operation. The suspects resisted arrest and attempted to escape, prompting a chase.

The police successfully intercepted the suspects’ vehicle at Abule Ado, leading to their apprehension. Investigations revealed their foreign origin from the Republic of Benin and their specialization in car theft.

In addition to recovering the stolen Toyota Corona, law enforcement also found a Toyota Corolla marked with registration number (JJJ 741 EJ) and various talismans believed to be associated with their criminal operations.

Currently detained by the authorities, the suspects are under investigation as the police work to unveil more information about the syndicate’s activities.
