This morning, February 5, a Japan Airlines plane collided with a parked Delta Airlines aircraft at Seattle-Tacoma Airport.
Fortunately, despite the damage to both planes, no injuries were reported.
The airport confirmed the event occurred at 10:17 a.m. when the wing of the moving aircraft clipped the tail of the stationary Delta plane.
Social media images shared by passengers highlighted the wing of the Japan Airlines plane causing significant damage to the tail section of the Delta aircraft.
“While we were waiting on the tarmac, another plane just casually crashed into our tail. It was truly terrifying,” wrote one passenger on social media.
“It was loud and very scary. We are currently being inspected,” they continued.
The airport indicated that the incident had only a minor impact on operations.
This collision comes amid heightened concerns at airports nationwide after several serious incidents.
Just last week, a tragic mishap saw 67 lives lost when a US Army helicopter collided with an American Airlines jet during landing at Reagan National Airport.
Additionally, two days later in Philadelphia, a medical transport jet carrying six individuals crashed onto a busy street, resulting in a fire that claimed all aboard the aircraft as well as one person on the ground.
