Two young men, lacking a legitimate source of income, were caught trying to illegally buy clothes valued at N220,000 through counterfeit bank transfers.

On Monday, January 13, the Ogun State Police apprehended Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare in Ijebu North Local Government Area. They were accused of deceiving Christopher Chukwuma to gain goods illegally.

These two individuals were reportedly caught attempting to acquire clothing valued at N220,000 with fake bank alerts, despite their lack of verifiable income.

Investigations have uncovered that one of the suspects had previously engaged in similar fraudulent activity in 2023, during which he bought generators worth ₦140,000 using phony transfers.

According to CSP Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson, evidence was collected during the suspects’ arrest, and inquiries are still ongoing. They are expected to face legal proceedings once the investigation is concluded.
