Edo Legislators Revoke Suspension of Lawmaker, Iyamu

Edo Assembly Recalls Suspended Lawmaker Iyamu (via Primetweets)

After a plenary session, Speaker Agbebaku shared that Bright Iyamu’s suspension was lifted, emphasizing his display of remorse.

Edo State House of Assembly has reinstated Bright Iyamu, who was suspended along with two other legislators for an alleged attempt to impeach Speaker Blessing Agbebaku and other key officials.

The suspension announcement was made during the resumption of plenary in Benin, naming the suspended members as Donald Okogbe (PDP Akoko-Edo II), Bright Iyamu (PDP-Orhionmwon South), and Adeh Isibor (PDP-Esan North East I).

Speaker Agbebaku accused the trio of collaborating to alter the leadership of the assembly under external influences, even alleging the involvement of native doctors conducting rituals in the assembly complex.

Following Iyamu’s reinstatement, there are still two lawmakers under suspension, Donald Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II) and Adeh Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I).

The legislators urged the Speaker to consider lifting the suspension on the remaining two colleagues, with Isibor having taken the matter to court.
