Actress Bukola Ikuomola from Nollywood has shared insights into her journey into the s*x toy industry.
Her motivation for entering this market stems from a genuine intention to fulfill human needs, similar to other business ventures.
“My choice to delve into the s*x toy field was fueled by the aim to address essential human needs, just like any business out there. Entrepreneurs seek to identify and fulfill these needs,” she expressed.
“With society’s increasing openness, I perceive significant potential in this field. My experiences so far have been positive, and interest in our offerings continues to grow,” she shared with Potpourri.
Ikuomola has found success in juggling her acting career with her business, largely thanks to the understanding nature of her colleagues within the entertainment sphere.
“My acting profession does not hinder my business activities. I’m grateful for my mature and progressive peers in the industry. I see nothing unusual about the s*x toy market, except perhaps through the lens of those who are not open-minded or are bound by old notions.”
Although she has experienced a generally positive response from clients, Ikuomola acknowledged that societal views can sometimes create hurdles.
“I have come across individuals with limited perspectives who attempt to overstep boundaries. Nonetheless, most of my customers are respectful and discreet. Those interested in our products are typically decent individuals who value their privacy.”
When prompted for advice to women in Nigeria contemplating similar businesses, Ikuomola encouraged them to pursue their dreams and challenged the perception of Nigeria as being entirely conservative.
“I don’t fully agree that Nigeria is a ‘conservative society.’ We are a vibrant and free-spirited nation. I encourage others to follow their ambitions, but they must also be ready to confront less mature individuals who may not grasp or respect their efforts.”
