Gov Abdullahi Sule
In Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule has initiated the suspension of the chairman along with board members of the Teachers Service Commission due to the unauthorized hiring of over 1,000 teachers.
The governor previously stated that only those teachers who are recruited through verified channels will be entitled to their full benefits.
This announcement was made public through a statement from his social media aide, Godwin Rimi, on Monday in Lafia. The action followed growing public dissatisfaction regarding reports of unpaid salaries concerning the newly hired teachers.
During a meeting held at the Government House, the management of the Teachers Service Commission confirmed the irregular hiring of more than 1,000 teachers without obtaining the governor’s consent.
In response, Governor Sule has created a committee to look into the matter of illegal recruitment. This initiative is designed to address the grievances of the affected teachers and to uphold transparency and accountability within the commission’s practices.
