The lifeless body of an infant believed to be only a day old was found on a farmland in Tayi village, Minna. The discovery was made by the Police.
SP Waisu Abiodun, the command’s spokesperson, informed the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, about the incident. He mentioned that on August 9, the GRA Police Division received a report about a day-old baby’s lifeless body found in Tayi village, Minna.
Abiodun explained that police officers from the GRA Division went to the location and called in welfare officials from the Chanchaga Local Government Area. The welfare officials had a medical professional examine the baby, who confirmed the baby was deceased.
He added that the case is being investigated, with the cooperation of the community, to apprehend the person responsible for this tragic act.
Meanwhile, a resident from the area, who chose to remain anonymous, shared with NAN that the infant was likely abandoned by an unwed mother. He speculated that the baby was abandoned alive but succumbed to the cold. This was noted as a rare occurrence in their community.
