Police Successfully Rescues Eight Abducted Individuals in Katsina
In Katsina State, law enforcement has successfully thwarted three separate attempts at kidnapping orchestrated by armed bandits, particularly in the Danmusa and Faskari regions.
Following a firefight with the bandits, the police managed to rescue eight individuals who had been taken hostage.
According to a statement from ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the police spokesperson, the incidents were reported on Monday, October 7, 2024.
“At around 11 am, two women were confronted by armed bandits while they were near Matarau village in the Danmusa area, with the intent to abduct them,” the statement detailed.
“Later that same day, emergency calls were received at the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters,”
“At approximately 2:30 pm, another group of assailants blocked the Unguwar Kafa junction on the Yankara-Faskari road, taking away two women and their children.
“In response to these incidents, police swiftly deployed to the locations and engaged the attackers in a gun battle. The bandits fled the scene, abandoning their captives, who were successfully rescued without injury.
According to the police public relations officer, the fleeing assailants sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation.
Commending the police officers for their courage, the Commissioner of Police expressed the command’s determination to combat criminal activities and ensure the safety of the community.
