On Friday, the Lagos State Government explained why the ill-fated staff bus, which collided with a train at Shogunle axis of the state and resulted in the death of six people, was overloaded. The bus had a capacity of 85, but due to the cash crisis, more people opted to take the free transportation provided by the state government, resulting in the bus being filled to capacity. The Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said that the fact that the train dragged the bus for about 10 metres likely increased the number of casualties. He added that it was too early to get full details from the passengers as many of them were in pain or had moderate to severe injuries.
