Hamisu Saleh, known as “Master,” a prominent militia leader and kidnapper, has been killed by Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) forces during a raid in Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The operation took place on February 11, 2025, as part of ongoing initiatives to tackle criminal activities in the area, according to intelligence reports.

Saleh, 25, was previously arrested in December 2024 for his involvement in various attacks, killings, and kidnappings in the same locality.

Despite his arrest, Saleh resumed his activities following his release in December 2024.

Investigations revealed Saleh’s involvement in numerous kidnappings, and he provided information about hidden weapons used in his crimes during interrogations.

Acting on the intelligence gathered, a tactical unit from OPSH executed a raid in the Ropp region of Barkin Ladi LGA around 8:47 PM on February 11, 2025. The goal was to capture other gang members and recover concealed weapons.

During the raid, Saleh misled the troops regarding the locations of his accomplices and weapon caches. However, he attempted to seize a soldier’s weapon in a bid to escape and confront the forces.

The troops swiftly neutralized him. While no further recoveries were made in the search, the military has promised to continue their efforts to locate and apprehend other criminals in the region.
