Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin are currently country music’s power couple. Lambert and McLoughlin stand out from other power couples because McLoughlin is not an entertainer. However, he now has a job related to the entertainment industry.
Many country music fans know McLoughlin was a cop. His career has now gone in a different direction. Here’s what we know about his new job and how fans reacted to it.
Brendan McLoughlin’s surprising career path
Fox News reports McLoughlin was once an officer working at the New York Police Department. That’s no longer the case. After taking a leave of absence which lasted for months, he has retired. The NYPD officially announced his retirement on Feb. 28, 2020.
Some fans might wonder if McLoughlin will retire from working at all. After all, he is married to one of the first ladies of modern country music. However, he’s still part of the workforce. He now has a job that brings him a little closer to his wife. He is officially one of her security guards.
The idea of McLoughlin working as Lambert’s security guard might seem a little odd, but multiple eyewitnesses confirm it’s true. In the last month, McLoughlin has worked at different meet and greet events for his wife. He checked fans bags at a Feb 7. concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Of course, fans were intrigued by McLoughlin’s presence at these events. If you’re a fan of country music, McLoughlin is a huge celebrity. Some fans wanted to take pictures with him, but McLoughlin doesn’t do meet-and-greets. After all, he’s not – nor has he ever been – an entertainer.
Lambert was one of the performers at the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. McLoughlin worked as one of her guards during the event. There, he mingled with the guards for other famous musicians like Dierks Bently and G-Easy. He is probably much closer to his boss than any of the other guards!

In small some way, McLoughlin working as a security guard feels like coming full circle for the couple. Lambert discussed the origins of their relationship in a 2019 interview with The New York Times. She said she met McLoughlin when she was doing press for her side project, an all-female country band called the Pistol Annies.
During that press tour, Lambert was introduced to her husband by a man named Tom who worked as, of all things, Lambert’s security guard! Tom and Lambert’s bandmates invited McLoughlin to a Pistol Annies concert behind her back. They thought Lambert might be ready to start a new relationship and McLoughlin might be a good fit. Boy, were they right! McLoughlin can always take comfort in the fact that, as long as he’s married, he’ll have a job.
